Laramie Smith

Angler

Native to the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Eastern Arizona, Laramie first learned how to fly fish when he was eight years old. His father, Jimmy, not only taught Laramie how to fish but also encouraged him to follow his dream, enrolling the two of them in their first Fly Fishing Team USA regional in 2012. Shortly after his first competition, Laramie moved from Arizona to Colorado where he now resides in the Denver area with his wife, two boys, and daughter. When he is not at home with family, Laramie can be found working as a Director of Engineering in the hospitality industry, guiding on the weekends for Galvin Guiding, making films for his YouTube channel (Rez Kid Fly Fishing), or training on his local lakes and rivers. Laramie qualified and competed in the Fly Fishing Team USA National championships in 2012, 2013, 2016, 2018 and in 2024, where he finally earned a spot on Fly Fishing Team USA.  Laramie would like to thank his parents for supporting his competitive fly fishing and his wife for taking care of their kids while he chases his dream and competes throughout the US.
